Pacom Newsletter - July 2009 Issue

Monday, 13th July 2009

Pacom Systems has released their July 2009 issue of Pacom News.

In many industries, including the security industry, solutions are delivered to the end customer through a number of middle men that add to the value of the final "experience". This is a blessing for us as a manufacturer but can in some cases also work as a curse.

The positive aspects to do with the value added reseller relationship are that our resellers are working closely with the customer in their local region and can have day to day contact, expand, service and maintain the systems. However, as the manufacturer, we find it challenging to be exposed to multitudes of customer requirements that are fed back to us through resellers. We have difficulty filtering out unique and customer specific requirements from globally common requirements and where we can use this as input to our strategic long term roadmap.

To ensure that we don't just develop solutions that are customer-specific; as a manufacturer, we must develop closer relationship with customers, with greater direct dialogue. Sometimes, direct manufacturer-customer relationships are seen as ‘cutting-in' on the value adding chain, however, this is absolutely not the case at Pacom. Our desire is to ensure that we obtain input directly from our resellers without the loss of information that that oftens happens when it travels through a value added chain.

"The Pacom solution was initially acquired for security, but thanks to its strength and stability, it has permitted us to save significant costs â?? not just with phone lines, but also with the removal of recurring costs associated with monitoring and administration. Other areas of the bank like automatic tellers and energy management also add value to the integrated solution."
