Pacom Announces New Version of GMS

Thursday, 5th January 2006

Version 3.75 of Pacom's GMS is the best release yet! With powerful improved capabilities, this feature-packed version of GMS is an essential management solution for all your access control, alarm and digital video requirements. Some of the new enhancements in GMS V3.75 include:
Ability to monitor panels connected to a digital receiver that use Ademco 4+2 format
A single Digital Receiver that supports Contact ID, SIA, Modem II, BFSK and/or Ademco 4+2 formats can be directly connected to GMS for alarm monitoring. Points can be placed on site maps and the status will be displayed in real-time, and alarm events are generated in exactly the same way as if received from a Pacom panel. This function is ideal for projects that use GMS for monitoring Pacom panels as well as other alarm panels. Integration with the Remedy Helpdesk Application
Remedy is a service management application that allows users to generate trouble tickets for processing and follow-up. For any alarm event received in GMS, a Remedy trouble ticket can be automatically created. This can be particularly useful in cases where a site requires servicing and/or maintenance. GMS Open Interface for DVR Integration
A generic open interface has been developed to enable third party DVR manufacturers to integrate with GMS. This is subject to an optional GMS licence and offers the following functions: 1. Streaming of live video into GMS from the third party DVR. When the user clicks on a camera icon on the GMS sitemap, the third party DVR application is called, and provided with the DVR (IP) address and camera number parameters. 2. Automatic video retrieval when an operator responds to an alarm event. A camera can be associated with an event so that the third party application is launched and the appropriate recorded video is displayed for the operator to perform video verification 3. When an operator clicks on a GMS transaction log event that has associated video, the third party DVR application is launched with the time/date, address, and camera number parameters. Card Access Dual Embarrassment Function
Pacom has developed a patent-pending function to reduce the incidence of false alarms associated with door alarms. It applies to the 1067 Dual Card Reader Interface only. An overview of the function below illustrates the two internal notifications before an alarm is policed: 1. Valid card presented to card reader. Door shunt time activated. 2. At "x" seconds, designated output (e.g. strobe) is set to activate to alert attention to the door 3. After "y" seconds and if the door has not returned to its normal state, the door's embarrassment buzzer (door ajar) output will pulse/beep as a final warning of the alarm condition 4. End of shunt time is reached (without a new valid access card or REX) and system reports a 'door ajar' condition if in day (unsecure) mode or an 'intrusion alarm' if in night (secure) mode

Installation Enhancements
New HASP Dongle Drivers This latest version provides new HASP drivers allowing GMS to be installed on newer machines, including 64-bit Windows systems. MSDE 2000 SP4 For smaller-sized applications where MSDE is suitable, GMS V3.75 includes MSDE 2000 SP4 which takes advantage of PCs with 64-bit Windows editions. GMS Config - the new programming tool
Ordering GMS for technicians has never been simpler! Previously, there were two configuration tools - GMS Config Lite and GMS Config Pro. These have been discontinued and there is now simply "GMS CONFIG". It incorporates all the functions of the former GMS Config Pro plus the Pacom Witness Manager digital video module. More DVRs interfaces
GMS V3.75 now supports the Dedicated Micros DV-IP range of DVRs and the Viewmaster-branded DVRs. These DVRs add to the already extensive list that includes March Networks, Dallmeier, Intivid Solutions, Integral Technologies, Verint, Adder, Samsung, POS-Watch and IDIS (Eudox/Hitron/Pacific Communications). Extra Security Features (required for European Approvals)
  • To reduce false alarms, GMS includes an optional flag called '"Prevent Set/Autoset when area is in alarm"'. If a panel is programmed to arm at a specific time, it will now check this flag and, if set, will not arm if there are any outstanding alarms.
  • An optional flag in GMS can restrict keypad users so that they can only change their own PIN (and not others)
  • Another optional setting in GMS has been created to prevent a panel from being configured by a locally-connected GMS (such as GMS Config).
